  2. Comparing Two Versions of Narrative Content

The ‘Revisions’ button allows you to see how the content of a narrative has been changed from one revision to another. There are several ways to view the revisions. In all cases, added text is highlighted green and deleted text is highlighted red. Follow the steps below to compare revisions.

To compare changes in a Two-Year Modification plan, view the Comparing Narrative Changes in the 'Compare Changes' Report (2YM) job aid.

  1. In the ‘Sections’ area of the Plan Content, select the '+' to expand a section.
  2. Select the narrative link you want to review.
  3. Click the ‘Revisions' button.
  4. The table will display all changes to the Narrative, using the radio buttons select a Revision to compare to and a Revision to compare against.
  5. Click on the link "Content Change" for each Content Change revision to navigate to the comparison page. This page will show all the changes made during that particular content change.

Revision Display Options

The revisions view displays the dates and authors of the versions you’re comparing. Each revision compares the current version to the previous version in the table. In all revision comparisons, the revision view displays the narrative text in one text block, with added text highlighted green and removed text highlighted red. Scroll to review revisions as necessary.

Layout Options

  • Visual Inline - This displays the text in it's standard format, similar to what you would see when viewing the Narrative in the portal. Text that has been added is highlighted in green and text that has been removed is highlighted in red. Text that has persisted from revision to revision is not highlighted. The View Mode Options (Default, Dashboard View, and Teaser) do not impact the display.
  • Split Fields - This displays the text in a table with two columns. On the left side are all old content broken up by paragraph and on the right is all the new sections broken up by paragraph. Any entirely new paragraph will not be displayed on the left and any paragraph that has been deleted will not be displayed on the right. A paragraph that has been changed will be highlighted in light red on the left with any text deleted being highlighted in darker red. A paragraph that has been changed will be highlighted in light green on the right with any text that has been added being highlighted in darker green. The Filter option will allow you to display the HTML tags if you select "raw" and remove HTML tags if you select "strip tags."
  • Unified Fields - This works the same as Split fields, except instead of displaying the old content on the left and the new content on the right, it displays the old content directly above the new content altogether in a single column. Unedited paragraphs will display once with no background color. The Filter option will allow you to display the HTML tags if you select "raw" and remove HTML tags if you select "strip tags."
