b. Explain How the State Will Provide Information and Meaningful Assistance to Individuals Requesting Assistance in Filing a Claim for Unemployment Compensation Through One-stop Centers, as Required by WIOA as a Career Service.

Current Narrative:

Florida will make available curriculum material from the Tier I certificate program to all core partners. The curriculum covers the fundamentals of workforce structure, Florida’s workforce history, customer service, career plan development, job search skills, job keeping skills, and labor market information. This training creates a platform that all staff can use to serve customers. The Tier II program is the second level workforce professional training provided by DEO. The Tier II curriculum provides staff with in-depth concepts and information of the specific workforce programs to include WIOA, WP, TAA, SNAP, and WT. DEO is scheduled to add a new module to help staff become more knowledgeable about the RA program and how it interacts and influences other workforce programs. Some topics include:

  • An overview of the RA program.
  • A Florida history of the RA program.
  • RA program key points and resources designed to help workforce staff learn where to find information commonly requested by customers.
  • Where to find information, including videos on applying for benefits, and Frequently Asked Questions.

Additionally, DEO will host training twice a year to provide key information about the RA program and working with RA customers.
