j. 1. B. Who are minorities;
Current Narrative:
While specific minority groups were not consistently identified as being underserved, individuals with Limited English Proficiency were frequently cited as having more difficulty accessing DVR services. While translation and interpreter support is offered, stakeholders and DVR staff indicated additional access to these supports is needed to improve participation in and benefit from VR services by those who are not fluent in English. DVR hires interpreters to allow for effective communication with this populations, but the capacity to provide VR services, such as job development, job training, and assessment services in someone's native language is limited, especially beyond Spanish. Additionally, the SRC expressed a need for further training to ensure culturally competent service delivery from DVR staff and service providers.
