- m. Order of Selection
Describe:
- m. Order of Selection
m. 2. If the designated State unit has elected to serve eligible individuals, regardless of any established order of selection, who require specific services or equipment to maintain employment
Current Narrative:
In FY22, BRS will further examine its capacity to provide specific services or equipment to assist individuals assigned to a closed disability service priority category with maintaining employment. BRS has sought technical assistance in this area and has reviewed processes utilized in other state VR agencies, and will continue its review in FY22. Under the current order of selection process, approximately 90% of eligible individuals are determined to meet criteria for priority category 1 and are able to access VR services. Only 10% of eligible individuals are being placed on a waitlist due to the order of selection process. BRS recognizes that is may provide select, specific services or equipment to those on the waitlist in order to support them in maintaining employment. BRS' current promulgated rules do not provide VR with the necessary authority to provide those services at this time, and therefore BRS is not electing to serve eligible individuals who require specific services or equipment to maintain employment (specifically for those on the wait list), however BRS recognizes the value of this opportunity and is actively working to modify VR rules to address this. Once the rules are amended, this will be revisited and modified as applicable.
